About
Love This!
This blog started in June 2007 because I want to have a portfolio of knowledge and experience online for my career hunting in the fashion industry. You see, I don’t have a Degree in Fashion Design or other fashion courses but that doesn’t mean that I am ignorant or blur blur about the fashion industry.
There are some posts from before then – imported from my personal blog, which is not linked from here for privacy purposes.
Love This! is about the fashion industry, fashion, skincare, beauty, fragrance, health, clothes.. career, marketing and sales in this industry and all that.
Style is always in
I believe that classic designs are longer lasting and can be mixed with current trends to have own personality rather than being a fashion slave.
Career in the fashion line
Some of the info and links are gathered from my research on fashion companies while hunting for a brilliant and successful career in fashion. Fashion in Malaysia is not as evolved (and exciting) as New York, London, Milan and Paris or even Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. Yet.
Sure, there are famous Jimmy Choo, Zang Toi, Beatrice Looi, Gillian Hung and more. It would be great if the links would help you too in your career search (or whatever) and improve our fashion industry.
The gallery scans
I appreciate aesthetic and ergonomic – love to browse through the ads, editorials and admire the gorgeous skin, beautiful design and colours combination. On the other hand, I think magazines which have more ads than articles are just selling ads!
It’s not only about the surface but also about curiosity in fashion, marketing, management and career. Art is so deep.
About MJ
When I was in school, I wished I could work with Gianni Versace. He was murdered. Gahhh! Even now, when I go to bookshops, the 1st place I would head to are usually Fashion Magazines or Self Improvement.
Then I studied Computer Science because I was so blur about computers (and everything about it). At that time, fashion courses were $$ and you had to go overseas to finish Degree. Computer degrees were popular and the fees were cheaper than Fashion courses. When you fear it, you conquer the fear and learn more about it, you’ll realize you are the one controlling how you feel.
Classmates were shocked and asked, “What happened to fashion design?!”
After I left my IT job, ex-colleagues asked me, “What about your Computer Degree?”
I’m still very much interested in both and others.
You may believe there are many lifetimes but there’s only this lifetime – now – to do what you want in this environment. NOW.
I want to be a fashion buyer
Analyzing sales figure from spreadsheets and computer system, liaising with floor staffs and marketing, VM staffs.. Go overseas for buying trip, feel the fabrics, see the designs, try the clothes (possible mm?), decide predict which products are must haves and so worth it that the customers are just going to buy everything in the shop and be on the waiting list (yey!)…
Of course, it’s even better if I get free clothes too! ;)
If I were a fashion buyer
I would throroughly check sales figure from the system and get feedback from the floor staffs. Nobody knows the customers more than people who contact with them directly. Combined with research on consumerisme, I’d suggest ways to improve sales and increase loyalty. Create buzz with company’s blog on the latest products and how to wear them.
Get the right and best products for our customers. They deserve what they pay for.
Increase knowledge on the products with more lookbooks and manuals at all outlets. Train staffs on products specialty. Equal opportunities for all outlets to have products that their customers would love.

Hi there,
Very impressive blog. Enjoy reading it and it is very informative.
Like yourself, i was swayed away from pursuing the dreams to be in fashion world. But i am always interested and hope to make it one day. On and off, will look out for new information, inspirations…etc. That’s how i came to your blog.
At the moment, i dont have any products or blog to share with you. But i do hope i will have something to share in time to come =)
Got a lot to learn from you, from managing a blog, to being knowledgeable in the field.
Great work!
Keep it up.
Cheers,
Leia

I must thank you for this very informative webpage. I love fashion and went to take a course in fashion design to give me an insight in2 this industry 7 years ago but did not pursue a career then as the industry pays very low. As a KL lass, I can’t survive with that kind of pay. Soon I fwent into sales of various industry and one of them is OEM in fashion. My heart is still in fashion as I think I love to be surrounded with beautiful and creative designs and fabrics. I am currently pursuing my Master degree in Business Admin and hope to establish a career in the fashion industry in a higher position such as Marketing or Merchandising Manager, a Buyer. I really hope that the industry can look into its salary structure. It really needs a review as the world is changing and inflation is on the rise. People need a pay rise to justify with the overall price hike!
