Metrojaya Shopping Carnival review

This is separated into 2 sections – outside the department store was on Sembonia & Carlo RIno shoes & bags as well as misc accessories and other bags, which I didn’t go to. Actually, I didn’t know there was sale in BTS but did know of the 1 in The Summit  – Metrojaya Shopping Carnival 28 Oct – 1 Nov 09. Somehow on Friday, someone informed me it was held in BTS as well.

I am looking for black closed toe & heel shoes with buckled or stretchable strap for work. Manager’s the conservative type that doesn’t want boots. Yeah, I know, I’m not fronting customer but internal customers are also customers *internal eye roll*. So. But still, I was looking for such shoes for months!

Saw 1 in Esarli but Esarli has this practice of marking up the original price during sales. So I don’t really trust Esarli. Plus, the shoes are not as comfortable as Vincci’s. I also don’t want any leather shoes – don’t want to kill more animals than I have to.

In the department store, it was brightly lit and what happened to the cosmetics & skincare counters?! Almost 1/2 of it was gone and the extra spaces were filled with offer bins for this sale. Mind you, there wasn’t a lot of offer bins so there was a lot of space for you to move.

Maybelline & L’Oreal makeup & haircare had 30%-35% discount.

Kate – the best of all – had discounts up to 80% though I sure the lipsticks were not RM80 in the 1st place. Maybe the 80% sign is overkill but once you see 80% sign, your brain get circuited. Mine did. Wow, 80%! I walked there faster and tried almost all the lipsticks & lipglosses, some repeated because I forgot which I had tried. The lipglosses appear very sheer after application though they looked bright on the tube. There was a shocking fuschia that I smirked at self for trying but it looked so sheer and sweet on application. Lots of lovely colours here! I was tempted to grab more… my head thought of unopened lip products inside my cupboard but my heart sang, “Oh, such beautiful colours!”

Don’t see the manufacturing date for Kate lipsticks though. The thing about the lipstick tube is there are 2 codes – RD-10 AFA & BR-9 24GH. RD for ReD and BR for BRown but why 2 codes?

1 thing Kate should learn from other warehouse sales like L’Oreal & Dior are there should be a chart of tested lines of the colours for people to see so that they don’t have to try on their skin all the time!

I’m not sure if the staffs for this sale was the same from the previous held in Isetan Lot 10 because the staffs from Revlon & Kate in Lot 10 suck. They were more interested in chit chatting than helping customers. No testers also in Lot 10’s warehouse sale!

The staffs for Kate were better this time, helping customer to find the colour but ONLY if you ask them. Otherwise, they’ll just look at customers and feel customers are making disarray of the stock.

The eyeshadows were at RM10-RM15 I think.. I quite like some of the packaging but I didn’t like the colours available then.

Revlon’s ColorStay eyeshadow was at RM10 each!!! Retail is around RM35-47, depending where you buy from. I almost bought 1 previously in Bangkok airport, cheaper about RM10 but I still had L’Oreal’s Aiswarya eyeshadows.. This time, I got each of Sterling Rose – in brownish, pink and grays & Nude Elements – light cream, browns & gray. They are from 2007 batch though but I think it’s ok for eyeshadows.

The colours are similar on the brown & gray but it’s ok. I love browns & the gray can be used as eyebrow filler. In fact, I’m still using Maybelline’s Trio Eyeshadow Disco Queen as eyebrow filler instead of eyeshadow. 1 of my friends commented that it makes me look old with gray and black eyeshadow… grrr.
