Kanebo Blanchir Charm 6-piece Set

I’m using this on and off in 2008… and now 2009, it’s off.

Blanchir is 1 of the skincare line from Kanebo for Whitening. Unfortunately, the site is only in Japanese. If Kanebo wanted to spread their market, they should include other languages.

I drafted this last year and now, Kanebo has English version site for Blanchir range.

Kanebo Cosmetics – Global Site:

The Medicated Whitening Skincare Brand, BLANCHIR is compounded with oriental plants “Firethorn”.
It protects skin from intensity of the sun and ultraviolet rays that can cause spots and freckles, and it keeps the skin healthy.

Medicated?! If it’s medicated, it can’t be called Cosmetics!

The travelling set – free when you purchase certain amount of products from Kanebo during Christmas promotion or you can go for the warehouse sale, priced at RM25. Mind you, this was early last yr or the yr before? I forgot.

At Kanebo warehouse sale (090808), the price had increased to about RM65. It will probably be RM100 in 2009 at the price hike rate.

The set I purchased (free if you buy lots of Kanebo products or during their fairs/promotions) has 6 things:

  1. Make Off Conditioner (cleanser)
  2. Clay Wash Conditioner (facial wash)
  3. Whitening Clear Conditioner (lotion)
  4. Whitening Powercon 3DC (Essence)
  5. Whitening Milky Conditioner (Emulsion)
  6. Smoothing Conditioner (Essence)

Now in Japanese skincare companies, lotion usually means toner, not moisturizer.

I had taken some pictures of the front but somehow lost them or they are in my other computer.. have to search. Next time.

All the products in this range is in red & white plastic packaging. I like that all of them are in tubes and not jar. Easier to use and the ingredients wouldn’t lose their effectivity so soon.

My favourite item from this set would be the Clay Wash. You can use it as a cleanser or mask (leave it till it’s dry, then wash off). It makes the skin feel really clean – good for oily skin. Unfortunately, afterwards the skin would be feel a bit oily. I find that whenever I use clay based products, either the skin will be come dry or oily after about 1 hr.

The whitening products are so so.. didn’t see much improvement on my skin but then I was using travel size. Perhaps you need to use the original size for it to work better..

Having worked at Kanebo part time before, I find myself not interested in the brand for work or to use the product – the company would hire only Chinese. Most Japanese cosmetics-skincare companies are like this, except Shu Uemura. I find this discriminating as excellent sales promoters/skin care advisor can come from any race, with the right education and experiences. However, some of the staffs are very helpful in guiding you which product to use.

Kanebo here is brought to us by another company. I had the receipt somewhere…

Assignment for you – look for non-Chinese staff in Japanese companies and post your comment here.

Of course there are loyal customers. Kanebo and Kose are both selling whitening products. Those Japanese girls are forever obsessed with fair complexion. So are Asians..

Maybe it’s because I’m fair already I do not aim for whitening but more for brightening. What I want is clear, healthy and glowing skin. Not to convert my skin to look like a geisha or Caucasion. Flawless wouldn’t work but that’s because I already have dark dots from old pimples gone bad and freckles hah.

In the Kanebo website, the (new/different names) products are:

Kanebo - how

+ Cheap (when I purchased it) and good to try if you are not sure if the products would work for you before you purchase the original size.

| Simple packaging of the products themselves. I think the original size packaging looks classier – since this is just a travel set, there’s no need to go all the way.

- Comes with a wide range of products specifically for whitening. Why need so many conditioner, emulsion & essence? Can’t they just pump everything into 1? Different power and price? Boring packaging of the set. Distributor/company’s preference of hiring staffs.

This is back in 2006 but classic makeup is always applicable. There’s picture guide on how to apply eyeshadow, blusher & highlight.
