Maybelline Whitestay UV Base 4 Purple
23 August 2008 at 11:31 am | In Foundation, Health, Review, Sunscreen | Leave a CommentThere are 3 colours in this range – green (anti-redness), this purple (anti-dullness) & white (become-ghost-like).

Right pic is in bigger size – you can see the ingredients clearly
35SPF PA++
30ml
To apply, you need to shake the bottle to activate first. Maybelline means the active ingredients sleep when the bottle is just lying there? Think there’s a plastic ball inside – there’s sound of something hitting the bottle when I shake it.
I bought this after a friend said she loved this so much but personally, I couldn’t see much difference between the colours much – compared with after applying this & before except that the skin felt there was something applied.
It felt oily but not too oily like Shiseido’s sunscreen. After 30minutes, it would not feel oily. There’s no stickiness which is good. I’m using it more as a sunscreen usually & then I’ll skip foundation but this product is a base! I’ve tried wearing this & then the foundation – no difference except the foundation powder mattefies the skin even more.
As for the sunscreen protection, I haven’t used this enough under the sun to know if it really works.
Mayoclinic – Sunscreen labels: What does “PA” mean?
Next, maybe I’ll try Garnier UV Protect Advanced Daily UV Blocking Lotion..

3 August 2008 at 1:07 am | In Anti-Blemish, Health, Review | 2 Commentsget pimples around the jaw & chin area sigh. Read somewhere in those face feng shui that it means my reproductive system is going haywire. Oy, since I have hormone imbalance (as in more testerone), this is nothing new to me.
Drinking Chinese medicine worked to clear up the skin as the Chinese doctor said it was because of my indigestion & lack of sleep causing bad skin (and short temper, yes). I hadn’t seen him lately as it’s expensive and since it’s indigestion, I should just eat & shit properly. And ignore barking dogs at night. Or just put the muzzle on them :p
So if a gadget kills pimples, I’m interested.
Zeno is getting a lot of publicity in fashion magazines & online – myzeno.com > In the News, where you’ll find scans from published media & links to other websites. Heat to kill acne bacteria? Does it work? Why not I just apply a hot cloth to the new spot? Mmm… maybe I should try it with Q-tip. Coz I’m frustrated with poking, squeezing, scratching, pressing even after I told myself to be patient & not to touch those pimples! Agh! Applying over the counter tropical creams do not work after a month or so.
It has 3 types of product based on the number of Count Treatment Tip:
- normal: 60-Count Treatment Tip at USD129 (based on myzeno.com > Buy Zeno)
- Pro: 90-Count Treatment Tip at USD159
- MD: 150-Count Treatment Tip at USD200
After you reach the number of Count Treatment Tip, you’ll have to get replacement tips where 60-Count is at USD25 and 90-Count at USD35.
Locally, I saw an advertisement that it’s selling at RM399 at pharmacy but I’m sure if that’s the right price. Assuming the convert rate to RM is USD1 = RM2.5, that means the normal Zeno is 129 x 2.5 = RM322.50. This doesn’t include tax & other charges. After all, the distributor has to gain profit too.
Now I do not have a sample, nor had I tried it on my skin. I just “researched” online & found out a very important criteria to me. Price vs Performance.
There are 2 advertisement in 88DB.com/my – ZENO HOME BASE ACNE CLEARING DEVICE looking for State Distributor with RM399 & Clear Pimples within 24hrs which lists the price RM699. WHAT?! It didn’t mention if that’s the distributor price to sign up or the market price.
thegadgeteer.com – Zeno Acne Treatment reviews the product with a Dr & NYU professor’s (it’s 1 guy) input gives a clearer picture of how Zeno works. Reading temptalia.com – Zeno Acne Clearing Treatment Device Review made me wonder… assuming it’s RM399 for 60-Count, would it be too expensive? Even if it works.
Let’s say you have 3 new pimples each month and you need to use 3 Count for each pimples. So that’s 9 Count for a day already. If you are getting the 60-Count, you can use Zeno for 60/9 = 6.7 times only!
OK, so you have more money to burn & you are not a hoarder.
USD129 becomes RM399
USD1 = RM399/129 = RM3.0930232. For simplicity sake, let’s use RM3.10 (round up the cents eh)
So… assuming we use the same rate for Pro & MD:
- normal: 60-Count Treatment Tip at USD129 or RM399
- Pro: 90-Count Treatment Tip at USD159 or RM492.90
- MD: 150-Count Treatment Tip at USD200 or RM620
Hooola! It’s the same price as printers!
So even if it works, I wouldn’t be buying this soon as it’s too $$$ in the long run. Would the spot that had been Zeno-ed wouldn’t have another pimple coming in the future? Of course not.
There are cheaper solutions out there… I hope. Considering the amount of money & headache spent on so many years of battling acne and pimples, perhaps I was too harsh on the pricing. I think I’ve spent more than RM700 – eh, no! – I had spent more than RM2000 skin care products in this lifetime and still haven’t found the cure to pimples! Agh!
