Bond no. 9 Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory

This is a totally different direction in bottle design compared with Saks Fifth Avenue. The bottle is inspired from Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Can! What’s such generic food can gotta do with concentrated perfume?

It’s actually not such a big difference once you know that Bond no. 9 is committed to art and design, just as Andy Warhol (original name: Andrew Warhola) did. Warhol had once remarked, “Another way to take up more space is with perfume.”
The Silver Factory, simply known as the Factory, was Warhol’s original studio with aluminum-foil walls. Art was mass produced and this created controversy because all the while, art was exclusive to a handful of super rich and powerful people only. Consumerisme was on the rise, lead by Andy Warhol.

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. is a New York non-for-profit corporation established in 1987 to promote visual arts. It has given out over 1 700 cash grants totalling more than $70 million.
Since the Campbell soup’s Condensed, this Silver Factory has 28% perfume concentrates – in between eau de parfum and perfume extract.

It’s not as strong as Saks Fifth Avenue, which is great for me because I prefer light scents. I smell more incense and wood, florals subdued but it’s still considered light.. After 1/2hr, it smells a bit sweet.
It’s going to be launched in Dec 2007, just in time for Christmas!
Size: 100ml / 3.4oz flacon
Price: $200
Scents: Citrussy bergamot, grapefruit, lavender; violet (which is Warhol’s favourite scent), incense (because the 60’s love being intoxicated by smell?), jasmine, iris; amber, wood resin & cedarwood.
Available: Bond No. 9 NY boutiques, Saks Fifth Avenue & their online websites
